The company was incorporated in 1958 as limited liability company, and converted to a public company in 29th November 1978. The principal activities of the company include property letting and management, provision for financial and other specialise services and investments in subsidiary and affiliated companies.

The Leventis Group of Companies can trace its roots back to the early 1940s when Mr  A.G. Leventis, who came at a young age from Cyprus  set up his own trading company.  Then he set up a branch in Nigeria headed by his brother Mr. C. P. Leventis.

In 1950 the Company expanded into retailing by the setting up of departmental stores throughout Nigeria. The Leventis stores were also the agent for Marks & Spencer in Nigeria for many years, and at the same time the Company diversified into the area of servicing motor vehicles, which included Mercedes Benz, Fiat, Honda and Mitsubishi.

In the later 1960s the assembly of Mercedes Benz trucks was one of the major activities of the group, which diversified into hotels including the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island which was later sold to the Federal Government. In the meantime, Leventis group was involved in the sale and maintenance of generators, computers and the assembling of air conditioners.

In the early 1950s Leventis started the bottling of Coca-Cola in Ghana as well as in Nigeria. Nigerian bottling Company (NBC) has 15 Factories and 90 Depots located throughout Nigeria. In the early 80s, Leventis took up the Franchise of Coca Cola in Europe (Greece) and they expanded into the Eastern Europe in the early 90s. Now the Leventis Coca Cola business under the umbrella of CCHBC is operating in 28 countries and is the 3rd biggest bottler of Coca Cola in the world.
